DEALING WITH MICROAGGRESSIONS
TFW someone says or does something offensive and you say to yourself: "WTF? Did that really just happen?" ...and then you wonder how the hell to respond. We'll be having a discussion and interactive activities to strategize successful methods for responding to microaggressions in the workplace.

Workshop: FramerJS Rafe Chisolm is a product designer with Pandora and he will be giving a introduction on the basics of FramerJS and its value in your prototyping and development workflow. Followed by Portfolio Spotlight: Christina N. Harrington, Ph.D. student in Design at Georgia Tech's Human Factors and Aging Laboratory.

The venue offers a wide variety of appetizers, entrees, desserts, and drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. There's something for everyone. Get the scoop from accounting and financial management pro, Danetha Doe. She'll be giving a 101 on financial management for designers and freelancers, followed by a brief Q&A.

A low-key casual meetup for the holidays. We'll be screening two films on the projector. Feel free to stop by for one or both films. Make sure you arrive 15 minutes before the screening starts to reduce disruption during the films.
7pm-9pm: The Film Black Friday
Demos of Drupal and Flinto. Drupal is an open-source CMS (content management system). Drupal helps you build everything from personal blogs to enterprise applications. Thousands of add-on modules and designs give you tons of flexibility. Flinto is a UX/UI prototyping tool. Flinto makes it quick and easy to create prototypes that look just like the real thing.
Have burning questions that will help you become a better designer? Looking for feedback on a project that has you stumped? Need suggestions for the best way to get ______ done? Want to get advice about what your next steps can be now that you've ___? Whatever it is, bring your questions! We can toss 'em in a hat or just go popcorn style and see where the conversation takes us.
Lets get together to challenge ourselves, learn and grow. Each person will build a prototype in a prototyping tools they haven't used yet, then report back with a demo, explaining the basic functions, plusses and minuses of each tool. Example tools: Atomic, Framer, InVision, Pixate, UX App, UX Pin, Axure. Bring your laptop and wear something comfy.
UX CASE STUDIES
Bring a UX case study that you want to discuss; it can be one of your own or one in a portfolio that you admire. Please aim to keep your presentation to 10-15 minutes. It can be as simple as a verbal description or as involved as a full on pitch deck.

A casual potluck to get to know other Black designers working in tech in the Bay Area. If you feel drawn to, you'll have time to briefly share a project that you're working on and want to get feedback about.
